Shura Council Team Discusses Problems Of Startup Owners

Muscat: On Monday, the Digital Economy File Study Team of the Shura Council convened with various startup founders engaged in Oman’s digital economy landscape.

The purpose of the meeting was to tackle the primary challenges confronting this essential sector and to identify practical solutions that would facilitate the nation’s digital transformation.

Conversations during the session focused on the barriers that could hinder digital advancement, particularly the need for a solid legislative framework.

Such a framework is regarded as fundamental in establishing a supportive legal environment that protects local investors while improving market competitiveness against foreign entities.

The discussions also brought to light promising investment prospects within the digital transformation arena, as well as several national initiatives aimed at enhancing this effort.

Participants stressed the importance of fostering stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to cultivate a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.

They highlighted the necessity of simplifying access to funding for startups, which is crucial for their growth and innovation.

Additionally, strategies for penetrating local and regional markets were explored, with entrepreneurs sharing insights on market entry and the operational challenges they face.

This meeting was part of the second session of the working group, led by Abdullah Al-Waleed Al-Hinai, Head of the Digital Economy File Study Team at the Shura Council, and included several distinguished team members.

This initiative emphasizes the significant role of the digital economy as a vital catalyst for economic development in the Sultanate of Oman.
