Osaka: On Sunday, HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, inaugurated the Sultanate of Oman's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, which will be open until October 13. The pavilion, titled "Enduring Ties," emphasizes three key themes: people, land, and water.
During the opening ceremony, His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said poured water into a miniature model of the pavilion using a beautifully crafted vessel from the Iron Age (1300 BCE – 300 CE). This artifact was unearthed from one of the chambers of the ancient wall in the city of Salut, located in the Wilayat of Bahla. The vessel, featuring detailed engravings and prominent fish designs, showcases the cultural and artistic heritage of Omani civilization during that era, symbolizing the official launch of Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
The pavilion encompasses six sub-themes: communication and interaction, tourism, investment opportunities, cultural identity, international relations, and partnerships, all of which align with the strategic goals of Oman Vision 2040.
HH Sayyid Theyazin emphasized that Oman’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka reflects the nation's dedication to engaging with global communities, with whom it has shared historical and cultural ties, and continues to foster cultural dialogue.
In an interview with Oman News Agency (ONA), HH Sayyid Theyazin noted that the pavilion's design draws inspiration from the innovative spirit of Omani youth. He added that the pavilion's design is a result of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design and that its content highlights the essential elements of authentic Omani identity.
The pavilion was designed to embody the identity of the Sultanate of Oman and to highlight the nation’s rich history that spans centuries. It serves as a vibrant showcase of our values and cultural heritage to the global audience, as explained by HH Sayyid Theyazin.
He emphasized the significance of Oman’s participation in this international event, noting the country’s role as a bridge connecting different regions of the world and reinforcing its commitment to fostering international understanding and cooperation.
“Our involvement in Expo 2025 Osaka demonstrates our dedication to sharing our vision and experiences with the global community as we tackle worldwide challenges and strive for a brighter future,” he stated.
HH Sayyid Theyazin expressed appreciation for the dedicated national efforts that brought Oman’s pavilion to life. He thanked all those who played a role in realizing the pavilion’s vision, which he described as a true representation of the Sultanate of Oman, both its people and its land.
In addition, Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture and Commissioner-General of the Sultanate of Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, noted that the pavilion features a range of written works in Japanese that introduce Oman through its historical, cultural, economic, and commercial dimensions.

He attributed this success to the efforts of Omani youth, emphasizing that the pavilion's theme, "Enduring Ties," embodies the Omani spirit, which values peace, harmony, and communication.
Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Busaidi, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan, remarked that Oman's involvement in Expo 2025 Osaka will elevate the country's profile in Japan, providing a platform to showcase Oman’s investment opportunities and the significant progress made in recent years.
He highlighted that trade between Oman and Japan is on an upward trajectory, with a 7 percent increase anticipated in 2024, and there is potential for further growth due to Japan's strong interest in investing in Oman.
