Sayyid Fahd Receives Participants Of UN Tourism Regional Commission’s 50th Meeting

HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, met with Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UN Tourism, and heads of delegations participating in the 50th meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East and the Conference on “Investing in Tourism: Opportunities and Challenges in Sustainable Financing” in Oman.

At the beginning of the meeting, HH Sayyid Fahd emphasized the significance of tourism as a key driver for global economic growth and its positive impact on the social and economic aspects of countries.

He highlighted Oman's commitment to tourism by implementing plans and programs to attract more investments in tourism projects, contributing to economic diversification and creating job opportunities.

HH Sayyid Fahd also commended the World Tourism Organization (WTO) for its role in developing the tourism sector, leading the Middle East region to become a top destination for tourists worldwide.

Discussions during the meeting focused on maximizing the benefits of tourism to enhance international cooperation in human resources development, sharing experiences, and utilizing tourism as a tool for promoting peace and stability globally.

Delegation heads expressed gratitude to Oman for hosting the meetings and praised the country's achievements and progress in various sectors.

The meeting was attended by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Omar Said Al Kithiri, Oman's Ambassador to Spain and Permanent Delegate to the UN Tourism, and Basmah Abdulaziz Al-Mayman, UN Tourism's Regional Director for the Middle East.
