Jabal Al Akhdar: The second edition of the Rummana event, hosted in the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar within the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, has seen a remarkable surge in attendance, with over 15,000 visitors gracing the event since its inception on July 4. The period witnessed a significant surge in sales, estimating the gross volume at more than 500 kilograms of fruits and other products sourced from 10 small to medium-sized enterprises.
Khalid bin Hamad Al-Aghbari, who serves as the Head of the Field Work Team at the Agricultural Tourism Development Company (Janaen), highlighted that the second edition of Rummana stands as a pivotal component of agricultural tourism initiatives and projects within the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar. This event is designed with the aim of promoting the culture of environmentally sustainable agricultural tourism, offering novel and unique experiences to visitors, while simultaneously bolstering local economic value.
He further elaborated that the Rummana project stands out for its unparalleled visitor experience, engaging participants in a variety of activities and events centered around the natural beauty of pomegranate trees, a specialty of the region, contributing to the preservation of this cultural legacy.
The event not only enhances Jabal Al Akhdar's prominence as a leading tourist, cultural, and agricultural destination within Al Dakhiliyah Governorate but also leverages the unique natural resources available in the Wilayat to bolster the competitiveness of the agricultural and tourism sectors both within the Sultanate of Oman and specifically in the Jabal Al Akhdar Wilayat.
This edition of Rummana is set to elevate the agricultural tourism experience for visitors to Jabal Al Akhdar, while also providing support for local farmers to market their products. The initiative includes an array of events and activities, complemented by numerous restaurants and cafes, and organizes workshops and cultural events aimed at educating children and families about the concept of tourism agriculture. Additionally, the event features a dedicated section for children's games and product booths to showcase the goods of local farming communities.
