Royal Opera House Muscat To Host 2024 Ramadan Concert Series

Muscat: The Royal Opera House Muscat has announced its plans to host a series of Ramadan concerts in 2024. These concerts aim to pay tribute to the spirit of peace and devotion that characterizes the holy month of Ramadan worldwide. The opera house has carefully curated three unique concerts that will delve into the essence of the season through Sufi music, Nasheed, and chanting.

The concert series will kick off on March 18 with a performance by the Ibn Arabi Ensemble from Morocco, accompanied by the Al Zawya Ensemble from Oman. The Ibn Arabi Ensemble specializes in Sufi instrumental music and chanting, with a focus on reviving well-known melodies. Audiences can expect to be enthralled by songs inspired by the famous Sufi poems of renowned figures such as Ibn Arabi, Ibn Al Farid, Rabi’a Al Adawiya, Abu Al Najib Suhrawardi, and many others.

Following the captivating opening concert, the second installment of the series will take place on March 25. This concert promises to be a truly exquisite experience, featuring the Mawlawiyyin and Levantine Religious Chants Group from Syria. The quartet of vocalists will be accompanied by instrumentalists and a choir, creating a harmonious atmosphere of praise. To add a touch of local talent, Oman's very own Khalid Al Araimi, a highly inspiring chant performer, will join the group on stage, further enhancing the cultural harmony of the event.

The grand finale of the concert series will take place on April 1, featuring the renowned Egyptian artist, Ali El Helbawy. Known for his captivating religious chanting, El Helbawy follows in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mohammed El Helbawy, and has carved out a successful devotional career of his own. Accompanied by his ensemble and a choir, he will mesmerize the audience with his prayerful Nasheeds, Sufi music, and religious chants.

These concerts not only showcase internationally acclaimed ensembles but also provide a platform for Omani participants to collaborate and form authentic cultural partnerships on a global scale.

All concerts will be held at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts, starting at 9:30 pm.
