Public Consumption Of Food And Beverages To Invite Penalties

Muscat: According to Article 277 of the Oman Penal Code, established by Royal Decree 7/2018, public consumption of food, drinks, or other items during fasting hours in the Holy Month of Ramadan is strictly prohibited.

In Chapter One, titled "Crimes Affecting Religion," Section Eight specifies that "any individual who consumes food, beverages, or other items in public during the fasting hours of Ramadan shall face imprisonment for a minimum of 10 days and a maximum of 3 months."

This legislation underscores the Sultanate of Oman's dedication to preserving religious observances and ensuring public respect during the sacred month of Ramadan.
