Salalah: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is set to enhance three mountain trails in the Dhofar Governorate.
Local companies with expertise in adventure tourism have been contracted to develop the necessary infrastructure in the area.
This initiative includes the creation of a Via Ferrata track in Jabal Samhan, an adventure activity that involves traversing iron pathways in steep mountainous regions. Additionally, the project encompasses the establishment of climbing routes in the Ain Hasheer area, around the Tabaldi trees, and along the Ain Ghaydh path, complete with signposts to guide visitors.
The initiative also involves repainting existing walking routes to improve tourist accessibility. Portions of the trails have been paved to facilitate easier walking, which is expected to boost visitor numbers to this scenic region. Notably, the diverse geography of Dhofar Governorate offers abundant opportunities for adventure tourism, with over 40 recognized mountain trails available for hiking and mountain walking enthusiasts, thanks to its caves and natural springs.
