Muscat: According to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of passengers traveling through airports in Oman increased by 21.6% to reach 1,417,442 by the end of January 2024, compared to 1,165,556 by the end of January 2023.
The statistics reveal that the number of passengers at Muscat International Airport reached 1,290,552 by the end of January 2024, showing a 22.7% increase. These passengers traveled on 8,756 flights, which is a 16% increase.
Out of these flights, 9,090 were international flights carrying 1,200,822 passengers, while 666 domestic flights carried 89,730 passengers.
In terms of nationality, Indian passengers topped the list at Muscat International Airport, with 86,234 inbound passengers and 82,807 outbound passengers. They were followed by Bangladeshi passengers, with 16,388 inbound passengers and 24,877 outbound passengers.
Passengers of Pakistani nationality came next, with 23,529 inbound passengers and 25,303 outbound passengers.
Moving on to Salalah Airport, the number of passengers stood at 120,506, marking a 14% increase. There were 809 flights, which is a 4.5% increase.
Salalah Airport had 423 international flights with 58,657 passengers, and 386 domestic flights with 61,849 passengers.
Additionally, Sohar Airport had 1,014 passengers on 32 flights, while Duqm Airport had 5,370 passengers on 54 flights.
