Panel Discussion Explores Role Of Folk Culture In Sustainable Development

Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, through the Literary Forum, conducted a panel discussion on Monday entitled, "The Role of Folk Culture in Providing Means for Sustainable Development: Omani Culture as a Model."

The event included a research paper delivered by Dr. Hajer Abdulrahman Harrathi, an associate professor of ancient Arabic literature at Sohar University, who specializes in folk culture, interdisciplinary studies, and cultural economics.

The paper emphasized the significance of Omani folk culture as a crucial foundation for achieving sustainable development by linking it to the economy, society, and environment.

It aimed to investigate the functional value of intangible cultural heritage and how it can be utilized as a developmental asset to aid local communities, foster economic innovation, and help in the formation of a unified national identity.
