Over 117,000 Tourists Visit Archaeological Sites In Dhofar During 2023

In 2023, the Land of Frankincense sites in the Governorate of Dhofar welcomed a total of 107,268 visitors, according to Rowas Hafeedh Al Rowas, Assistant Director General for Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar. Among these visitors, 61,974 explored Al Baleed Archeological Park and the Museum of the Frankincense Land, while 32,694 visited the Samahram Archaeological Site. Additionally, the Wbar Archaeological Site (Shisr) attracted 12,600 visitors.

Furthermore, Taqah Castle received 5,224 visitors in 2023, while Mirbat Castle welcomed 5,064 visitors. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, through the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar, is dedicated to enhancing these sites by providing necessary services and aesthetic facilities. This commitment aims to promote cultural and archaeological tourism in the governorate.
