OSHRM Conference Focuses On Leadership Amid Rapid Changes

Muscat: The Omani Society for Human Resources Management (OSHRM)'s eighth annual conference, titled "Leadership in Open Space," began on Monday with the participation of elite global experts and decision-makers from both within and beyond the Sultanate of Oman.

The three-day event was started by HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.

Dr. Ghaleb bin Saif Al Hosani, Chairman of the OSHRM Board of Directors, emphasized the society's desire to improve the human resources sector and highlight its critical role in ensuring institutional sustainability.

He emphasized that the conference, which will feature specialists and seasoned professionals in HR management and development from Oman and abroad, provides an ideal platform for exchanging knowledge, addressing critical issues affecting organisations and individuals, and fostering more productive work environments.

He went on to say that the conference focuses on leadership in an era of fast change, with business and cultural borders eroding.

The need has emerged for a new leadership style based on a profound understanding of change, one that predicts the future with flexibility and creativity.

Leadership today, he observed, is assessed not by a leader's ability to impose control, but by their ability to empower people, redirect energy toward innovation, and create work cultures that value change and variety.

In his turn, Azzan Al Abdullatif, Chief Executive Officer of Asset Management at OQ—the conference's strategic partner—reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting intellectual and developmental platforms that help to build national competencies and improve Oman's labor market competitiveness.

Meanwhile, Ghanem Al-Muftah of the State of Qatar presented his amazing personal path, exemplifying perseverance and positive effect while emphasizing leadership's role in overcoming obstacles and creating change.

Professor Costas Markides of the London organizational School gave a keynote address titled "The Requirements of New Leadership in the New Normal," emphasizing the need to restructure leadership approaches to keep up with fast organizational transitions.

The conference continued with a main panel discussion titled "Sustainable Leadership: Building Tomorrow's Legacy Today," which included Omani leaders discussing leadership's role in molding the future and ensuring sustainable development across sectors.

The first day ended with a sports-themed workshop titled "Champion Mindset: Leadership Lessons from the Field," featuring notable Omani sportsmen.

Sustainable economics

The conference will cover key topics such as sustainability economics, corporate social responsibility, psychological safety and secure work environments, reimagining organizational culture, leveraging technology and social media, the economic benefits of diversity and inclusion, private-sector leadership, HR analytics, agile team development, flexible learning strategies, modern workforce experiences, and mentorship.

The program includes interactive seminars and specialized workshops that highlight innovative ideas and current trends in leadership and talent management.

It takes modern leadership beyond traditional team management, emphasizing innovation, continual development, and effect that transcends organizational borders.

The conference provides a chance for HR pioneers in Oman to exchange ideas and explore the latest industry trends, with notable speakers sharing insights on inspirational work cultures that promote innovation and institutional success.

HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said inspected the accompanying international exposition, which included the most recent HR technologies and solutions from specialist participants.
