Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development and Sohar International Bank inked a collaboration deal on Thursday to support and execute 40 home-based projects for girls with intellectual difficulties. This project seeks to improve their economic power and facilitate their participation into society.
The agreement was signed by Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, and Abdulwahid Mohammed Al Murshidi, CEO of Sohar International.
The agreement includes offering training opportunities for females enrolled at the Vocational Rehabilitation Center in A'Seeb. This training will give them the skills necessary to start home-based projects in a variety of fields, including hand weaving, sewing, and the manufacture of incense and fragrances. The objective is to empower them financially and socially, as well as to build their abilities so that they can join the workforce and become more independent.
The agreement seeks to deliver complete social safety targeted at the most vulnerable areas, enabling them to achieve self-sufficiency.
This signature is part of coordinated efforts to deepen collaboration between the public and business sectors in support of social projects and to create a supportive and conducive environment for people with disabilities.
