Muscat: OQ Gas Networks (OQGN), the principal operator of Oman's natural gas transmission network, has announced the commencement of several projects aimed at enhancing the transmission of gas to the Wilayats of Sohar and Duqm, in addition to expanding the network through the construction of new pipelines. This expansion will extend gas transmission to the Wilayat of Sur at a cost of OMR150 million.
Muscat: Mansour Al Abdali, the Chief Executive Officer of OQGN, has stated that the company is in the midst of executing a variety of projects across several wilayats, with a particular focus on the Wilayats of Sohar and Duqm. He also mentioned a strategic project in North Oman that is expected to be implemented in the near future.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the company's financial performance in the first half of 2024 saw a profit of OMR28 million.
The Saib Project, recently inaugurated in the Dhofar Governorate, is identified as a critical initiative within the region, with the potential to significantly contribute to the energy sector of the governorate. This project is expected to enhance both the economic and social development of Dhofar Governorate.
Regarding the project's economic impact, Mr. Al Abdali noted that the in-country value (ICV) of the project stands at OMR11 million. Additionally, he mentioned that the project has provided employment opportunities for over 300 Omani youth.
