Muscat: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones recently conducted a visit to the Republic of India aimed at strengthening economic collaboration between the Sultanate of Oman and India, particularly in the realms of economic, free, and industrial zones. The discussions focused on opportunities for attracting investments and sharing expertise between the two nations.
The delegation, led by His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Dheeb, Vice Chairman of the Authority, toured several Indian industrial and economic entities, including the Jindal Iron and Steel Group's projects in Angul. They observed the operational processes at the iron factory and visited O.P. Jindal International University, where they explored the academic programs, research facilities, educational museum, and various service and academic amenities.
In conjunction with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in India, in partnership with the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, hosted a business forum attended by over 80 Indian companies from diverse sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food, medical products, and energy.
During the forum, the Authority's delegation presented a working paper outlining investment opportunities within its jurisdiction, detailing the incentives available to investors and highlighting key targeted sectors. Additionally, the Omani House of Law Office provided an overview of the current legislation and regulations in the Sultanate of Oman.
His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Dheeb, Vice Chairman of the Authority, emphasized the significance of the bilateral relationship between the two nations, noting that the Republic of India stands out as a key investment partner for the Sultanate of Oman.
He also highlighted the critical role that special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities play in drawing investments and fostering economic collaboration between the two countries, as well as the necessity of identifying investment opportunities within the Sultanate of Oman.
