Omantel, Ministry Of Labour Sign Agreement For Future Talent Development

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has taken a significant stride towards its digital transformation with the formalization of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Labour and Omantel.

This partnership is designed to train and qualify a cohort of 86 university graduates in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and data science.

This initiative highlights Oman's dedication to cultivating a skilled workforce and fostering a knowledge-based economy. By investing in its youth, Oman is positioning itself at the forefront of the digital era.

Dr. Mahad bin Said Baawain, Minister of Labor, expressed that the ministry aims to equip graduates with a diverse set of skills through this collaboration with Omantel. These skills are intended to meet the demands of the contemporary labor market, thereby enhancing the participants' competitiveness in securing future employment opportunities, particularly those that necessitate these competencies.

Talal bin Said Al Mamari, CEO of Omantel, highlighted that this agreement will enable Omantel to contribute to the development of Omani youth's skills and meet the labor market's requirements. This collaboration underscores Omantel's commitment to supporting national endeavors and aligning with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the National Programme for the Digital Economy. It is also noted that Omantel Academy, established this year, focuses on the development of functional, future, and efficient modern technologies, including virtual simulation, big data analysis, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
