MUSCAT: The Omani-Tunisian Olive Oil Exhibition, inaugurated yesterday, Thursday, September 26, at the prestigious Muscat Grand Mall within the Wilayat of Bousher, Muscat Governorate, marks a significant milestone in the agricultural sector.
This event, meticulously organized by the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Water Resources in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Oman, is set to extend its reach from September 26 to 28.
The three-day exhibition is a showcase of Omani olive oil products, originating from the presses of villages within the Wilayat of Jebel Akhdar, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, alongside an array of Tunisian olive oil products, value-added goods, and food manufacturing items that utilize olive oil. It serves as a platform for the convergence of olive farmers, traders, olive oil press proprietors, and agricultural entities engaged in the production, packaging, and export of olive oil from both Oman and Tunisia.
The primary objectives of this exhibition are to fortify bilateral relations within the agricultural sector, augment trade in agricultural commodities, introduce olive oil and value-added products from both countries, and foster commercial collaborations among institutions, companies, individuals, and entrepreneurs from both nations.
Tunisia, recognized as a premier nation in the cultivation and production of olives, holds the distinction of being the leading country among Arab nations and the third globally in terms of production and export, as per the 2023 statistics from the International Olive Council, which encompasses 44 countries involved in the production and export of olives and olive oil.
