Oman To Celebrate International Seafarers’ Day On Monday

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in the Sultanate of Oman is set to commemorate World Seafarers’ Day on Monday, with Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence, presiding over the event.

This annual observance of International Seafarers’ Day serves as a tribute to the rich maritime heritage of Oman and recognizes the invaluable contributions of seafarers within the industry.

The Ministry’s initiative underscores the significance of maritime affairs in bolstering the economy and promoting local production, while also emphasizing the importance of creating employment opportunities.

The event will feature speeches from Ministry officials, a showcase of achievements in Oman’s maritime sector, an exhibition for participating organizations, interactive sessions, presentations of research papers, and the honoring of sponsors and outstanding individuals in the maritime field.

It is worth mentioning that the International Maritime Organisation has endorsed the annual celebration of World Seafarers’ Day to emphasize the crucial role played by this sector.
