Madrid: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), participated in the Oman-Spain Business Forum, which was hosted by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
This event was organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and was attended by a delegation from Oman, led by Eng. Hussain Hassan Abdul Hussain, a Member of the Board of Directors at OCCI.
The forum shed light on various opportunities for Omani companies within the Spanish market and facilitated discussions on potential investment opportunities in both countries' private sectors.
Eng. Hussain Hassan Abdul Hussain highlighted the purpose of this visit as supporting the private sector in Oman's efforts to diversify its economy, explore commercial opportunities in Spain, and establish connections between Omani commercial entities and their Spanish counterparts.
He further explained that the Chamber's delegation was specifically focused on sectors such as food security, health, and industry, with representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion sharing insights into the investment climate and opportunities available in Oman.
Eng. Hussain Hassan Abdul Hussain also mentioned his intention to visit several Spanish companies in Madrid and Barcelona to explore potential collaborations and trade partnerships, as well as to facilitate the exchange of expertise and experiences between private sector institutions from both countries. He expressed optimism that the forum and the subsequent bilateral meetings between Omani traders and their Spanish counterparts would pave the way for expanding trade exchanges between the two countries across various economic sectors.
In attendance, Mohammed Al Lawati, representing the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the investment landscape within the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting the most significant investment opportunities available.
The Spanish delegation elucidated on the initiatives undertaken by governmental bodies to bolster bilateral economic ties and diplomatic relations, alongside Spain's commercial endeavors in the Middle East. This was articulated by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Spain. Furthermore, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce offered a detailed overview of commercial prospects in Spain, alongside an exposition on the operational frameworks of chambers of commerce within the Kingdom of Spain.
Throughout the forum, participants from Omani companies engaged in the delegation were introduced, alongside the commercial prospects they are eager to explore within the Spanish market. Concurrently, a series of bilateral meetings were conducted between Spanish companies and institutions, alongside the delegation members, during which discussions centered on the most viable investment opportunities within both the Omani and Spanish private sectors.
