Oman Participates In 26th GCC e-government Meeting

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MoTCIT) of the Sultanate of Oman participated in the 26th meeting of the Executive Committee for E-Government in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on June 5th in Qatar. Leading the Omani delegation was Eng. Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman al Kharousi, the Director General of Digital Transformation and Sector Empowerment at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.

During the meeting, the committee addressed several important topics, such as reviewing the General Secretariat's report on the implementation of decisions made during the previous meeting, as well as discussing initiatives related to the guiding strategy for e-government in the GCC countries. They also focused on shared electronic services among GCC countries, initiatives concerning artificial intelligence, and the procurement of unified software for the GCC countries.

Additionally, the committee examined working papers submitted by member countries in the field of e-government and discussed the outcomes of the 5th edition of the GCC Digital Government Award, which was hosted by Saudi Arabia from December 19th to 20th, 2023, in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by the heads of e-government authorities and programs in the GCC countries, as well as specialists from the GCC General Secretariat.
