Elon Musk Says X Is Number One News App On App Store In India

San Francisco: On Friday, Elon Musk made a claim that the application formerly known as X, the microblogging platform Twitter, has ascended to the top position as the leading news application on the App Store in India.

Elon Musk disseminated this information through a post on X, stating, "X has achieved the number one position for news applications in India."

This announcement was initially made by a user identified as Dogedesigner, who declared, "BREAKING: X has secured the top spot as the leading news application on the App Store in India."

Dodesigner also introduced a new feature on X, announcing, "BREAKING: Users can now rewind live video streams on X."

Statista.com reports that India holds the third position globally in terms of Twitter user base, with an estimated 25 million plus active users.

In response to the news that X has become the leading news application on the App Store in India, Musk's followers have expressed their admiration for the platform.

One user, Hitman Hub, expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "X has claimed the top position in Australia! Big love for Australia! X is leading in Germany! Feeling blessed to be at the top here. X has reached the number one spot in Brazil! Thank you for all the incredible support, Brazil X! Incredible to witness such widespread love and support in India."

Another user, Raghu Rajaram, commented, "While I'm uncertain about the situation for others, I believe X has indeed revolutionized the media landscape, challenging the dominance of traditional, polarizing media controlled by politicians. X consistently sets the standard."

In the aftermath of the 2024 United States presidential election, which confirmed Donald Trump's victory, the social media platform X experienced its largest user exodus since Elon Musk's acquisition in 2022, with many users switching to alternative platforms such as Bluesky. According to CNN, over 115,000 U.S. users deactivated their X accounts following the election. However, Bluesky has since seen a significant increase in its user base, doubling to 15 million users and gaining 1 million new sign-ups in just one week.
