Oman’s Report On Anti-Money Laundering And Counter-Terrorism Financing Systems Lauded

Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman, under the leadership of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, as well as the National Committee for Combating Terrorism, is participating in the 39th General Meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 16 to 21, 2024.

The delegation from Oman is being chaired by Tahir Salim Al Amri, who serves as the Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) and is also the Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism.

During the course of the General Meeting, the delegation will review and endorse the Mutual Evaluation Report on the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Systems for the Sultanate of Oman.

The General Meeting commended the Sultanate of Oman for its exemplary performance in meeting the international standards set forth by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), highlighting that the Mutual Evaluation Report for the Combating Systems in Oman stands as a benchmark in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The mutual evaluation process is a collaborative effort between the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF).

The Mutual Evaluation Report on the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Systems for the Sultanate of Oman was previously discussed at the FATF General Meeting, which took place from October 21 to 25, 2024, in Paris, France.
