MUSCAT: On Sunday, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) introduced the Employers Survey 2025, a strategic effort designed to align the outcomes of higher education with the changing demands of Oman’s labor market.
This survey, led by MoHERI’s Department of Statistics and Information, aims to collect data from organizations that have hired higher education graduates from 2018 to 2025, with a particular focus on the first half of this year.
The main goal of the survey is to evaluate how well academic qualifications match the skills and competencies needed in various economic sectors. By pinpointing these needs, the initiative aims to guide educational policies that respond to market requirements, thereby improving graduates' employability and supporting the country’s economic development.
Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, highlighted the importance of the survey in relation to Oman Vision 2040.
She stated, “This initiative is a crucial element in formulating educational policies that are closely aligned with labor market demands, ultimately boosting the competitiveness of the national economy.”
The launch event included a visual presentation outlining the survey's goals and implementation phases, emphasizing the government's dedication to data-driven policy-making.
The survey seeks to systematically gather and analyze data regarding graduate employment, with the goal of offering practical insights that will inform curriculum design, training initiatives, and strategic planning in higher education institutions.
This recent initiative demonstrates the Omani government's proactive strategy to tackle workforce development challenges and to align the educational system with the country's economic goals. Stakeholders from both the education and employment sectors are urged to engage actively in the survey to enhance the understanding of labor market dynamics comprehensively.
