Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces' attacks on Deraa Governorate in the Syrian Arab Republic, which violate Syria's territorial integrity.
In denouncing these aggressive actions, Oman's Foreign Ministry has reiterated its appeal for the international community to take immediate action to prevent Israel from continuing such behavior and to address its blatant disregard for international law, which is exacerbating instability and conflict in the region.
Oman has also condemned the airstrikes carried out by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of over 400 civilians.
The Foreign Ministry stated that these systematic assaults on the Palestinian population constitute a clear and egregious breach of the ceasefire agreement established last January, as well as a violation of all international standards and humanitarian laws.
This situation necessitates urgent intervention from the international community to halt this brutal aggression against humanity, safeguard civilians, and hold the occupying state of Israel accountable for its actions.
According to Syria's state news agency SANA, two individuals were killed and 19 others injured due to Israeli airstrikes in the southern Syrian province of Deraa.
The Israeli military has confirmed the strikes, asserting that they targeted military installations housing weapons belonging to the forces of ousted Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
The Israeli military has announced that it is actively targeting military installations in southern Syria, which include command centers and sites housing weapons and military vehicles associated with the former Syrian regime. According to the army's statement, these "military assets" are considered a "threat to the State of Israel."
Additionally, the military emphasized its commitment to preventing any military threats in southern Syria and stated that it will take action against such threats.
This marks another instance of Israel conducting strikes in the Deraa province, an area that has been previously targeted for similar operations against military assets.
