Muscat: Oman Air has achieved its highest seat occupancy rate to date, reaching an impressive 88% load factor in January 2025. This figure indicates the proportion of available seats that were filled with passengers, showcasing the airline's effective capacity utilization. Among the 41 destinations served by Oman Air last month, several recorded load factors as high as 95%. This performance surpasses the global average of 83.5% for 2024, as reported by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Additionally, the airline reported a notable 77% occupancy rate in its Business Class. Concurrently, Oman Air is expanding its point-to-point market share to draw more tourists to Oman, thereby supporting the nation’s economic objectives.
Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, stated, “We take great pride in this record load factor, which underscores the robustness of our network and indicates that the strategic changes we have implemented are yielding results. As we approach the summer season, we are witnessing strong booking trends and remain committed to maintaining this growth by providing outstanding service to our customers and expanding travel options.”
In 2023, Oman Air initiated a significant transformation aimed at achieving financial breakeven within three years while positively impacting Oman’s socio-economic goals. The airline recently shared its performance highlights for 2024, marking the first full year of this transformation, and reported substantial advancements due to a thorough network analysis, an emphasis on profitable routes, and a fleet modernization initiative that incorporates more efficient aircraft while phasing out older, less economical models.
Oman Air operates more than 40 destinations using a combination of wide-body and narrow-body aircraft. The airline provides three cabin classes along with a variety of fare options.
