OABC, Dentons Host Session On Personal Data Protection Law In Oman

The Oman American Business Council (OABC), Oman's largest and most active business networking group and the official affiliate of the US Chamber of Commerce in Oman, partnered with Dentons, the region's leading law firm and a premium member of OABC, to host a successful morning session on the new regulations of the personal data protection law in Oman.

On May 15, the event took place at the Intercontinental Hotel Muscat, attracting over 100 esteemed legal professionals, executives, and business leaders. The main focus of the session was to discuss the significant changes introduced by the new data protection law. Prior to the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to network and enjoy coffee. Dentons' team then delivered a comprehensive presentation, leaving no aspect of the law unaddressed and ensuring clarity for all participants. The expert panel from Dentons skillfully answered questions, providing additional insights and clarifying any doubts raised by the audience.

One of the highlights of the event was Dentons' presentation, which provided a thorough overview of the new personal data protection law and its implications for businesses and employees in Oman. Following the presentation, a Q&A session allowed participants to seek clarification on specific aspects of the law.

The event also included networking breaks, providing attendees with the chance to connect with like-minded business professionals and expand their professional network.

Jamie Gibson, Managing Partner and Head of Corporate at Dentons Oman, expressed his satisfaction with the Dentons team of data protection experts presenting the session on the Oman Data Protection Law to a room full of engaged OABC members.

The OABC team was thanked for the opportunity and support in ensuring the success of the event.

Rebecca Olson, CEO of the OABC, highlighted the importance of companies quickly complying with the new regulations, such as appointing a data protection officer (DPO), regardless of company size.

The Dentons team's expertise was evident in their ability to answer numerous questions raised during the session.

Dentons was appreciated for sponsoring the event and supporting the community.

The event was free for OABC members, as are all OABC events, which typically range between 30-40 per year.
