Muscat: Oman's Natural Gas Transmission Network, operated exclusively by OQ Gas Networks SAOG (OQGN), is poised to commence the inauguration of the 'Saib Project,' a novel 208 km gas pipeline within the Dhofar Governorate.
This development was announced during a press conference organized by the company at the W Hotel in Muscat on Tuesday.
The 'Saib Project' represents a strategic initiative aimed at augmenting the capacity of the gas network within Dhofar Governorate, in response to the escalating demand for natural gas, attributed to population growth, urban expansion, and economic development. Consequently, the capacity of the gas network is set to increase by 60%, from 10 to 16 million cubic meters per day.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be presided over by HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of government officials, community leaders, members of the OQGN Board of Directors, and key stakeholders and contractors.
The project is divided into two loops: Loop 1, measuring 32 km at Hubara, within the wilayat of Haima, and Loop 2, extending 175 km from Harweel to Raysut station in Salalah, culminating in a total length of 208 km, with the addition of a 32-inch pipeline alongside the existing 24-inch pipeline.
