National University Holds White Coat Ceremony For 150 Future Doctors

Sohar: The National University of Science and Technology (NU), represented by the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, recently conducted its annual white coat ceremony in Sohar, welcoming a new cohort of 150 aspiring doctors.

The event was graced by Dr. Ahmed Salim Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation.

Dr. Ali Saud Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of NU, emphasized the commitment to enhancing medical education in the Sultanate of Oman, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and various healthcare institutions. He noted that this dedication inspires medical students and provides them with substantial clinical training, preparing them to become proficient physicians in the future.

Additionally, Prof. Mohamed Ali Al Shafaee, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, remarked that the white coat ceremony, now in its 20th year at NU, is a worldwide tradition that marks the commencement of clinical training.

He highlighted that the college's Medical Programme (MD) has received full accreditation in accordance with the international standards established by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). “This milestone represents academic excellence and ensures that medical students receive the highest quality of education and training,” he stated.
