Muscat: The National Emergency Management Committee, under the representation of the National Emergency Management Center, is set to launch a comprehensive national campaign aimed at enhancing awareness regarding weather conditions, climate-related risks, and the threat of tsunamis. This initiative is scheduled to commence on the forthcoming Sunday and will extend until the 7th of October.
The scope of this campaign encompasses engagement with various segments of society, including local, educational, economic, and security communities. This engagement will be facilitated through a series of meetings, seminars, practical exercises, an exhibition, and additional events. The primary objective of this campaign is to elevate community awareness and to introduce an early warning system capable of addressing multiple hazards.
This campaign is being executed in collaboration with several key entities, including the Ministry of Information, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, the Directorate General of Education, the Directorate General of Social Development, and the Youth Center in Salalah.
