Muscat: The Governorate of Muscat has announced the commencement of the "Muscat Inspires Us" short film competition, inviting filmmakers from Oman, both amateurs and professionals, to demonstrate their creativity and narrative prowess. This initiative is designed to spotlight the accomplishments of the governorate through a collection of short films that explore various themes including tourism, community engagement, development, history, culture, sustainable education, and architectural identity.

The competition is open to a diverse array of participants, encompassing directors, producers, students, film companies, photographers, and artists. It seeks to cultivate visual content that embodies the essence of Muscat, while also promoting the governorate's advancements and achievements across different sectors.

A key objective of this initiative is to nurture collaborations with the community, encouraging participants to introduce innovative concepts. Furthermore, the competition is committed to promoting sustainable practices in film production, thereby fostering a culture of continuous creative exploration within the local film industry.

Films submitted to the competition will undergo evaluation by a panel of industry experts, which includes representatives from the Oman Film Society and the Ministry of Information. Entries that are selected as winners will be awarded cash prizes, with the highest honor being a RO 2,500 cash prize. Other awards range from RO 1,500 for the second place to RO 200 for the seventh place.

Entries must be original works, limited to five minutes in duration. Films are required to be in Arabic with English subtitles and must align with local values and customs. Each participant or team is permitted to submit only one entry.

The Governorate of Muscat aspires for this initiative to evolve into a dynamic platform that inspires creativity, showcasing the governorate’s cultural heritage, societal values, and developmental progress.
