Muscat: In a collaborative effort, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the College of Tourism have initiated the Musandam Lodge project. This initiative aims to motivate individuals to invest in the establishment and development of tourist lodges in coastal and mountainous villages, adhering to global standards.
The launch of this project took place during a workshop, organized by the Oman College of Tourism in partnership with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Musandam Branch, under the esteemed patronage of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, the Governor of Musandam.
The workshop featured presentations on various aspects of tourist lodges within the Sultanate of Oman, underscoring their significance as a cornerstone of tourism development.
Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Mahrazi, the Dean of the Oman College of Tourism, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the critical role of tourist lodges in the growth of the tourism sector.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism unveiled a comprehensive working paper detailing the laws and regulations governing tourist lodges. Additionally, Sultan Qaboos University presented a working paper highlighting the importance of tourist lodges in fostering sustainable tourism and the preservation of natural resources, alongside research on exemplary international practices in this domain.
Governor of Musandam, Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, articulated the objectives of the Musandam Lodge project, which include addressing the escalating demand for tourist accommodation within the governorate and promoting both local and international tourism by offering a variety of accommodation options that align with tourist expectations, thereby enhancing Musandam's status as a premier tourist destination.
This initiative is expected to encourage local residents and entrepreneurs in Musandam Governorate to invest in the tourism sector, thereby creating employment opportunities within the hospitality and tourism industries.
He underscored the pivotal role of the project in realizing the governorate's vision to advance the tourism sector, which in turn contributes to the economic development of the local community.
He also extended an invitation to investors within the governorate to seize the available investment opportunities and benefit from the incentives offered for the development of tourist lodge projects.
