Mountain Hiking Event Kicks Off In Wadi Bani Khalid

Muscat: A mountain hiking event organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has begun in Wadi Bani Khalid, located in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate of Oman. This two-day event has attracted over 150 hikers from various regions across the country.

The first day commenced at the picturesque water pools of Wadi Bani Khalid. Participants navigated a mountainous path, passing through several villages, including Al Sahf, Al Safa, Al Maysem, and Hayl Al Naqa. The day's trek concluded in the mountainous village of Hloot, covering a distance of 20 kilometers and reaching an elevation of 2,050 meters above sea level.

On the second day, hikers will depart from Hloot village, descending a 10-kilometer dirt trail before embarking on an 11-kilometer mountainous route. This path will lead them to the village of Seema in the Tiwi township, located in the Wilayat of Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The final segment of the event will involve a 9-kilometer stretch along a paved road, culminating under the Tiwi Bridge. In total, participants will have traversed a challenging yet fulfilling distance of 50 kilometers.
