"Most Beautiful Ship In The World," Amerigo Vespucci, To Visit Muscat For The First Time

Muscat - The Amerigo Vespucci, a historic sailing vessel and Training Ship of the Italian Navy, is set to arrive in Muscat on January 8, marking the 32nd stop of its World Tour. This visit will be the ship's inaugural appearance in the Omani city.

For over ninety years, the Amerigo Vespucci has served as a custodian of Italy's oldest naval and maritime traditions, becoming one of the nation's most recognized symbols globally. The "Vespucci World Tour," which has received strong backing from the Minister of Defense, Hon. Guido Crosetto, integrates the traditional training of Officer Cadets with the promotion of Italy's excellence. The Vespucci stands as a symbol of both the Navy and Italy, having significantly contributed to the enhancement of the country's international reputation through its adherence to maritime traditions. The ship departed from the Port of Genoa on July 1, 2023, embarking on a two-year global journey that showcases Italy's culture, history, innovation, science, and technology, all of which contribute to its esteemed global standing.

The vessel is expected to dock at berth No. 6 of Port Sultan Qaboos at 08:00 on January 8, 2025, where it will be greeted by the Italian Ambassador to Oman, H.E. Pierluigi D’Elia, along with military officials.

The ship will be accessible to the local community on January 9, 10, and 11, 2025.

Admiral Enrico Credendino, Chief of the Italian Navy, will also make an official visit to Oman during the Vespucci's port call.

From January 8 to 12, a photographic exhibition titled "Voyages Across Oceans: The Legacy of Amerigo Vespucci and Shabab Omani II Maritime Heritage" will be held at The Sustainable City Yiti Experience Center.
