More Than 190 New Doctors Join Specialised Training Programmes At OMSB

Muscat: In a recent development, 196 physicians from a diverse array of health institutions within the Sultanate of Oman have participated in a specialized training program facilitated by the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) during the academic year 2024/2025.

This cohort encompasses 60 physicians who are in their internship programs, alongside 5 physicians engaged in the local fellowship programs at the Royal Hospital, specializing in pediatric intensive care. Additionally, there are 5 physicians from the University Medical City's Department of Genetic Medicine and Adult Blood Diseases (Sultan Qaboos University Hospital) and the Al Nahda Hospital's Department of Ear Medicine and Surgery.

To facilitate the seamless integration of these new physicians into the academic and training environments, a series of interactive meetings will be organized over the forthcoming months. These meetings will bring together the new doctors, program managers, members of educational committees, and faculty members.

The discussions will take place at the OMSB's headquarters or at training centers recognized by the OMSB, including hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health such as the Royal Hospital, Khoula Hospital, Al Nahda Hospital, Al Masarra Hospital, the National Centre for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery at the Royal Hospital, Nizwa Hospital, Al Rustaq Hospital, and Sohar Hospital. Furthermore, meetings will be held at the "Hospital of Medical City for Military and Security Services" and the University Medical City.

The OMSB stands as the premier institution in the Sultanate of Oman for advanced medical education, offering internationally accredited programs from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in the United States of America. These programs are designed to enhance the capabilities of the participating physicians and to elevate the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.
