Muscat: The Ministry of Labour and the Security and Safety Corporation have recently formalized an agreement to establish the Inspection Unit. The main objective of this unit is to enhance the quality and efficiency of inspection operations, as well as improve the overall effectiveness of associated tasks. Additionally, there is a strong focus on implementing new policies to regulate the Omani labour market.

Today, on Monday, the Ministry of Labour signed the agreement with the Security and Safety Corporation to officially launch the Inspection Unit. The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry's headquarters and was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba'owain, the Minister of Labour, and Major General Abdullah bin Ali Al Harthi, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Security and Safety Corporation.

This collaborative effort is in line with the government's directives to strengthen the inspection sector by incorporating security support services. It also involves the implementation of new policies to organize the Omani labour market, with a specific focus on conducting thorough inspection campaigns on non-compliant establishments and undocumented labor. Furthermore, the aim is to streamline the procedures preceding inspection operations.

The Ministry, represented by the Directorate General of Labour Welfare, is actively working towards fostering improved relations among the three key stakeholders in production. This is being achieved through coordinated field visits to private sector facilities, with the ultimate goal of ensuring compliance with labor laws, executing ministerial decisions, and addressing any violations of these regulations.

Minister Ba'owain emphasized the importance of having highly skilled professionals in the inspection sector to ensure efficient and effective operations. The partnership with the Security and Safety Corporation is in line with the national vision objectives, focusing on organizing the Omani labor market and streamlining processes for better collaboration among government institutions.

Al Harthi added that this agreement will include training programs for employees, logistical preparations, and the establishment of accommodation facilities to facilitate seamless integration with relevant authorities. Moreover, the agreement will create job opportunities in the security and safety sector, contributing to the overall development and stability of the labor market.

It is important to highlight that the Ministry of Labor is actively working towards achieving a balanced labor market by providing opportunities in various sectors. The ministry's goal is to establish a transparent job market that attracts both local and foreign investments, aligning with the government's vision for economic growth.
