Labour Forum Discusses Implementation Of Sustainable Development Goals

Salalah: The Labour Forum, titled "Together We Work...Together We Innovate and Prosper," delves into the complexities of the labor market, while also scrutinizing the most effective strategies for its enhancement.

More than 400 international experts, specialists, and investors, both local and international, are participating in this forum, which is scheduled to conclude on August 29, 2024.

Organized by the Ministry of Labour and inaugurated at the Millennium Salalah Hotel, this event is under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Mahad Said Ba’Owain, Minister of Labour. Additionally, it will address the vocational guidance and counseling system within the Arab world.

The forum will explore the pivotal role of vocational guidance and counseling in the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the emerging trends in employment and their impact on competitive capabilities.

The agenda of the forum features a meeting with the Minister of Labour and several business owners to discuss the future of employment and the development of the market through new avenues that absorb human capital.

Furthermore, the forum will host a session on artificial intelligence to examine the influence of technological advancements on the future of employment and the challenges and opportunities presented by evolving work patterns.

The event will also include a conference on entrepreneurship, employment policies, and localization, which will be held in conjunction with the forum. This conference aims to underscore the significance of job localization for the national economy, review successful models of job localization within the private sector, and discuss sustainable employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Additionally, a seminar on career guidance and counseling will be organized.

The forum encompasses 12 dialogue sessions featuring 40 speakers, covering a wide range of topics, including human resources development, entrepreneurship promotion, economic support, social responsibility, and the creation of a decent work environment. It will also review the directions of Oman Vision 2040.

The primary objective of the forum is to foster innovation and professional development by showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in the labor market, with the aim of augmenting productivity, enhancing social dialogue, and promoting constructive cooperation between specialists and those interested in the labor market.

Moreover, the forum seeks to refine labor and regulatory policies to improve the labor market's regulatory framework, aligning it with economic, technological, and social advancements. It also aims to promote international and regional cooperation by broadening the scope of cooperation with international and regional partners to facilitate the exchange of expertise, experiences, and knowledge.
