Indian School Muscat Alumnus Shines In Dubai Runs

Dubai, UAE: Syed Bilal, an 18-year-old graduate of the Indian School Muscat (ISM), has brought pride to Oman through his remarkable achievements in two notable running competitions held in Dubai. His impressive performances have positioned him as a promising young athlete in the region.

Having recently completed his Grade 12 education at ISM, Bilal took part in the Skechers Performance Run in October 2024. In the 10-kilometer race, he earned the gold medal in the under-19 category, finishing with an outstanding time of 47 minutes and 44 seconds, showcasing his athletic skill and commitment.

Just two months later, Bilal elevated his performance at the Skechers Performance UAE National Day Half Marathon, organized by the Dubai Sports Council. Competing in the 21-kilometer event, he achieved a silver medal in the competitive 16-to-30 age group, clocking an impressive gun time of 1 hour, 34 minutes, and 36 seconds.

Reflecting on his journey, Bilal attributes his success to his dedicated training and his passion for running. “Running is not merely a sport; it’s a lifestyle. It plays a vital role in maintaining good health and fostering personal development,” he remarked.

Bilal's running journey began during his school years in Oman, where he first developed his passion for the sport. After attending ISM from Grade 1 to Grade 9, he spent two years in Dubai for Grades 10 and 11 before returning to ISM to complete his education. This combination of experiences in two cities has significantly contributed to his competitive advantage.

Looking to the future, Bilal is preparing to begin a new chapter as he heads to Berlin for his higher studies in Engineering. Staying true to his passion, he intends to participate in international races and has set his sights on the esteemed Berlin Marathon. In the near term, he will also compete in the upcoming ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon.
