Indian Expat Faces Jail Term, Deportation For Fatal Crash

Muscat: The Public Prosecution of the Sultanate of Oman has imposed a two-year prison sentence and a three-month driving prohibition on Mohammed Faras, an Indian citizen. This verdict arises from a tragic event in which Faras was driving at excessive speeds in the wrong lane of a divided road, leading to the fatalities of four individuals and injuries to fifteen others.

In addition to his prison term, Faras is obligated to compensate for the damages resulting from his irresponsible behavior. Upon completing his sentence, he will be deported from Oman.

This incident highlights the grave repercussions of reckless driving and underscores the vital need to comply with traffic regulations to protect public safety. The investigation into the matter is still ongoing, and Faras remains in custody.
