New Delhi: The Government of India has established a five-member committee to oversee the prevailing circumstances at the India-Bangladesh Border (IBB).
This development was announced by the Border Management Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) through a formal directive, which states, "The committee is tasked with maintaining communication channels with their counterparts in Bangladesh to safeguard the welfare of Indian citizens and individuals from minority communities residing in Bangladesh."
The leadership of this committee is to be led by Ravi Gandhi, the Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command, with additional members including the Inspector General (IG), BSF Frontier HQ South Bengal, IG, BSF Frontier HQ Tripura, Member (Planning and Development), Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), and Secretary, LPAI.
The Additional Director General of BSF, Eastern Command, has been appointed as the chairman of this five-member committee.
In a separate announcement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared the news on social media platform X, stating, "In response to the current situation in Bangladesh, the government has formed a committee to monitor the prevailing conditions at the Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB). The committee's primary objective is to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals, Hindus, and other minority groups living in Bangladesh."
