Heritage Sites Of Dhofar Governorate Attract Local, Foreign Tourists

Salalah: The archaeological sites within the Sultanate of Oman attract visitors with a particular interest in cultural and heritage tourism, adding an additional allure to these destinations.

The Dhofar Governorate is witnessing a growing level of attention and care from government departments throughout the year, indicating a commitment to its preservation and enhancement.

Heritage tourism is garnering significant interest from both local and international visitors. These heritage sites, including forts, castles, ancient souqs, and houses, serve as a treasure trove for tourists eager to uncover the mysteries and historical significance of the archaeological sites within the Dhofar Governorate's various wilayats.

These sites also offer researchers a unique opportunity to study the traditional architectural styles prevalent in the region. Dr. Mohammed bin Awadh Al Meshaikhi underscores the critical role of heritage sites in the realm of economic tourism. He also highlights the necessity of developing the archaeological map and integrating it into the priorities of various government departments and the private sector within the Sultanate of Oman.
