Dubai: The headshots of Team India players were revealed on Monday in anticipation of the ICC Champions Trophy taking place in Dubai.
The official Instagram account of the Indian Cricket Team showcased images of prominent players including Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Shami, all appearing ready for competition in their official ICC Champions Trophy uniforms.
Team India has arrived in Dubai and conducted their training session on Monday.
India's campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy will commence with a match against Bangladesh on February 19 in Dubai, followed by encounters with arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23 and New Zealand on March 2. Due to the hybrid model, all of India's matches will be held in Dubai rather than Pakistan.
The team will be without its leading fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been sidelined due to a lower back injury.
Young fast bowler Harshit Rana has been called up as his replacement.
Additionally, spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been included in the squad after impressive performances in the recent T20I series against England.
Bumrah has not played since January, with his last match being the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia in Sydney.
After bowling 10.1 overs in the first innings, he experienced noticeable discomfort and underwent scans. Australian medical staff advised him against continuing in the Sydney Test. Although he batted in the second innings, he did not bowl again.
Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been excluded from the team and placed in the non-travelling reserves after initially being named in the main squad. This decision follows his ODI debut in the first match of the three-match series against England.
In his debut, the young left-hander struggled with the bat, scoring only 15 runs off 22 balls. For the second ODI, Jaiswal was replaced in the playing XI by Virat Kohli, while Varun Chakaravarthy made his own ODI debut, finishing with bowling figures of 1/54 in his 10 overs.
India's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 includes: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill (Vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohd. Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, and Varun Chakaravarthy.
The non-travelling substitutes are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, and Shivam Dube, who will be available to travel to Dubai as needed.
