Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Oman National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT) and the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Muscat, has inaugurated the Hadatha Centre for Cybersecurity Industry. This initiative was inaugurated as a key component of the Regional Cybersecurity Week.
The inauguration took place during a ceremony presided over by Halima Rashid Al Zari, the Chairperson of the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED).
The primary objective of the "Hadatha Centre" is to augment the outcomes of the National Programme for Cybersecurity Industry through the effective management of knowledge, the generation of ideas, research, and the development of cybersecurity products and services through simulation, modeling, and testing.
Furthermore, the centre is committed to aligning with the Cybersecurity Industry Programme within the Sultanate of Oman and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the fields of cybersecurity and modern technologies, in line with the overarching goals of the Cybersecurity Industry Program in the Sultanate of Oman. Additionally, the centre is envisioned to serve as a central hub for collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and academic institutions.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS).
