Muscat: His Excellency Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the esteemed Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, has underscored the "moral imperative" for Western nations to compel Israel to cease its military operations in the Middle East and to assume a more substantial role, transcending mere policy persuasion. He emphasized the necessity of imposing certain restrictions on Israel to halt its aggressive actions.
In a statement to the esteemed British newspaper, the Financial Times, His Excellency highlighted the efforts of the United States and numerous other nations to persuade the Israeli leadership towards ceasing hostilities, engaging in a ceasefire, and re-engaging in the political dialogue. Regrettably, these diplomatic efforts have not yielded the desired outcomes.
His Excellency advocates for Western nations to break free from the Cold War tradition of unwavering support for Israel and to explore peaceful means of exerting pressure. He points to the decisions of "France and the United Kingdom to restrict arms sales" as examples of such peaceful strategies.
Furthermore, His Excellency the Foreign Minister clarifies that Hezbollah and Hamas are not the instigators of instability in the region. He notes that the Israeli Prime Minister's policy of dealing with Iran as a hostile power is the primary concern, and it is not a position that other countries should adopt.
