Foreign Minister Receives Phone Call From Ismail Haniyeh

Muscat: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, was contacted by Ismail Haniyeh, Head of Hamas Movement's Political Bureau, via phone last evening.

The phone call revolved around the recent aerial bombardment by Israeli occupation forces targeting unarmed civilians in Mawasi Khan Yunis area and in the Shati camp in the Gaza Strip. The attack resulted in the deaths and injuries of numerous women, children, and elderly individuals.

The discussion between the two parties focused on the negotiations facilitated by the United States of America in collaboration with the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The negotiations aim to establish a ceasefire agreement and secure the release of prisoners and detainees.

Sayyid Badr reiterated the Sultanate of Oman’s unwavering support for the just Palestinian cause. He called upon the international community to intervene and halt the Israeli aggressions and terrorist acts that have been ongoing for months against the Palestinian people without facing consequences. Sayyid Badr emphasized the urgent need for international action to protect civilians and provide essential humanitarian aid to the vulnerable Palestinian population.

Ismail Haniyeh expressed his gratitude for Oman's supportive stance towards the Palestinian cause. He highlighted the significance of continuous communication and constructive dialogue to resolve the crisis through enhanced global efforts in line with relevant international resolutions.

Haniyeh confirmed that the Hamas movement's leadership approved the ceasefire proposal put forth by the United States and responded positively to the constructive efforts by Qatar and Egypt in this regard.
