Foreign Minister Conveys HM’s Greetings To Sultan Of Brunei Darussalam, Meets Officials In New York

New York: During a ceremony presided over by Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, in the framework of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, delivered a message on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, in conjunction with the Sultanate of Oman's expressions of warm greetings to Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the citizens of Brunei Darussalam, marking the fortieth anniversary of Brunei's affiliation with the United Nations.

This event took place amidst a series of engagements and discussions by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, during the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Furthermore, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah extended a request to Sayyid Badr to convey his greetings and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan and the people of Oman. He also expressed his hopes for the further advancement and prosperity of the relations between Oman and Brunei Darussalam.

Concurrently, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi engaged in several meetings with various officials, in the backdrop of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations.

In one such meeting, Sayyid Badr had the opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and collaborative projects with Gabrielius Landsbergis, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania. The dialogue covered the strengthening of friendship and cooperation, as well as the expansion of partnerships in economic, cultural, scientific, and technological domains. Additionally, they exchanged perspectives on contemporary regional and international issues.

Another significant engagement was with Luminita Odobescu, the Foreign Minister of Romania, during which they explored avenues to enhance the bilateral relations between Oman and Romania. The discussion also focused on areas of cooperation in the economic, cultural, and educational sectors.

The two ministers deliberated on regional and international issues of mutual interest, reaffirming their support for the collective efforts aimed at maintaining regional and international peace and stability. They underscored the importance of dialogue and peaceful resolutions in addressing security challenges.

Moreover, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi had a meeting with Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). The conversation centered on ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Oman and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). They also explored opportunities for cooperation in the economic, cultural, and educational spheres.

This series of engagements and discussions highlighted the diplomatic efforts of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, in fostering and maintaining strong bilateral relations with various nations and international organizations.

The delegations from both parties engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding the humanitarian challenges confronting Palestinian refugees.

Sayyid Badr articulated the Sultanate of Oman's unwavering support for initiatives aimed at ameliorating the conditions of refugees. He emphasized the necessity of collective action and the demand for the full implementation of United Nations resolutions that advocate for the unimpeded entry of essential humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Sayyid Badr commended the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for its diligent efforts in providing critical assistance and fundamental services to Palestinian refugees.

In response, the Commissioner-General of UNRWA expressed his appreciation for the Sultanate of Oman's active engagement in addressing humanitarian concerns and relief operations, underscoring the importance of sustaining these efforts and supporting the UN agency in fulfilling its mandates.

Furthermore, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, engaged in a bilateral meeting with Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba.

The dialogue focused on the bilateral relations between the two nations and strategies for their enhancement. The ministers shared a mutual enthusiasm for broadening the scope of these relations and explored potential areas of collaboration.

During the meeting, the ministers deliberated on various regional and international issues, including strategies for maintaining peace and security at the regional and international levels.

Additionally, Sayyid Badr convened a meeting with Caspar Veldkamp, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, to discuss areas of cooperation and the significance of the economic partnership between Oman and the Netherlands.

The ministers also exchanged perspectives on a range of regional and international issues, including strategies for sustaining peace and security at the regional and international levels.

The two ministers engaged in a dialogue concerning the escalating situation in the region, underscoring the necessity for intensified efforts by international community institutions to halt the escalating military operations and prevent the conflict from expanding further.

Both parties emphasized the significance of pursuing a peace strategy grounded in the two-state solution, the adherence to international law, and the legitimacy of such a resolution, alongside the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.

During his engagement with Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Mulla, the Executive Director of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Sayyid Badr deliberated on the prospects for cooperation and partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the World Bank. They discussed strategies for the development of various financial and technical cooperation and economic diversification initiatives, including capacity-building programs aimed at fostering development and sustainability.
