Food Security Index Sees Improvement In Oman

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Oman places a strong emphasis on ensuring food safety and quality standards are met. They are dedicated to providing necessary resources for the development of these standards to guarantee compliance with set specifications.

This commitment is evident through the collaboration with relevant authorities, such as the departments responsible for enforcing Oman's Food Safety Law and the Center for Food Safety and Quality. The Center is responsible for creating, updating, and implementing regulations and technical standards for food items.

Between 2022 and 2023, the Ministry introduced 7 new regulations and standards while reviewing a total of 120 draft technical regulations and national and Gulf specifications. They also stay informed about local and international food safety developments and continuously monitor food products through laboratory reports and market inspections.
