Muscat: Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) has announced its participation in the Seventh Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia, scheduled to take place from September 17–19, 2024, in St. Petersburg. This distinguished event presents FDO and its subsidiaries with a unique opportunity to exhibit Omani seafood products, services, and investment prospects to the international market. Furthermore, it facilitates engagement with thousands of businesses, key purchasers, and investors, thereby broadening FDO's market presence.

The Expo is set to host over 400 companies from 34 Russian regions and 14 countries, occupying an exhibition space of 26,000 square meters. With a lineup of 139 industry experts scheduled to speak, the event serves as a crucial gathering of leaders, traders, and retailers within the seafood industry.

Subsidiaries of FDO at the Expo include:

- SIMAK: A premier subsidiary of FDO, SIMAK operates a state-of-the-art facility within the Duqm Special Economic Zone, capable of producing over 100 million cans annually, equivalent to more than 16,000 tons of premium-quality seafood. Situated near major ports, the facility ensures efficient distribution and boasts a processing capacity of 30,000 tons annually. SIMAK is at the forefront of sustainability through eco-friendly practices such as water conservation and the use of solar energy.

- Marsa Al Duqm: This subsidiary is spearheading the development of Oman’s largest fishery port in Duqm, scheduled for completion by 2026. Covering an area of 7.5 square kilometers, the port features a 10.5-meter dredged channel and boasts modern infrastructure, including a fishing harbor, processing and packaging units, cold storage facilities, and supporting utilities. Marsa Al Duqm is playing a pivotal role in advancing Oman’s fisheries sector by enhancing operational efficiency and fostering economic growth.

- Blue Waters: As the aquaculture subsidiary of Fisheries Development Oman (FDO), Blue Waters occupies a pivotal position within Oman's seafood supply chain. With a production capacity exceeding 5,000 tons of marine finfish and the annual generation of 21 million juvenile fish, Blue Waters guarantees a steady supply of nutrient-rich seafood while upholding the utmost environmental standards.

- Oman Pelagic: Utilizing cutting-edge vessels, Oman Pelagic fortifies Oman's commercial fishing fleet. Focused on pelagic and meso-epipelagic species, the company employs sophisticated technologies and environmentally sustainable practices to enhance efficiency and reduce ecological footprint. Operating in international waters, its fleet is accredited for high-seas navigation, equipped with facilities for ultra-low temperature freezing, ensuring the delivery of premium quality tuna products to international markets.
