Exhibition In US Showcases Omani Products From SMEs

The Sultan Qaboos Centre for Culture in Washington is currently hosting an exhibition called 'Omani Treasures: Contemporary Crafts'. This exhibition, which is being held in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, showcases various modern handicrafts from Oman.

Running until Wednesday, the exhibition features prominent Omani products from both the private sector and small and medium enterprises. It aims to highlight the efforts made in preserving heritage and incorporating it into the production of contemporary goods.

During the event, Moosa Hamdan Al Ta’ei, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United States of America, expressed his appreciation for the dedication shown in preserving heritage and translating it into modern products.

Dr. Paul Taylor, an official at the US Smithsonian National Museum in Washington, delivered a presentation on the connection between Omani and American traditional crafts. He discussed the notable heritage artifacts housed in the museum, some of which date back to the visit of the ship Sultana in 1840. Additionally, he showcased a selection of collections from various Omani museums.

Representatives from the Handicrafts Authority also gave a presentation on their work and the achievements they have attained, which are deeply rooted in the ancient history of Oman.
