The Secretariat General of the Tender Board announced that a total of 3,056 tenders were made available through the Esnad electronic bidding system in the first quarter of 2024. These tenders, issued by entities governed by the Tender Law, have a combined value exceeding RO 584 million.
The projects outlined in the tenders focus on development and service initiatives across various regions in the Sultanate of Oman.
Notable projects include the Muscat Expressway expansion, Al Falah Hospital establishment in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, road dualization connecting several wilayats, Municipal System unification, commodity market creation in Sinaw, and road restoration in A’Rustaq.
By the end of the first quarter of 2024, twenty-two tenders had been awarded, totaling over RO 136 million, surpassing the number awarded during the same period in 2023.
Eng. Badr Salim Al Maamari, Secretary-General of the Tender Board, highlighted the Board's efforts to enhance bidding efficiency, develop models to boost local content in contracts and tenders, and monitor their implementation to ensure local value addition from government spending.
Al Maamari emphasized the importance of providing optimal value and service, utilizing modern frameworks and methodologies to expedite project execution, minimize change orders, and adhere to approved financial allocations.
He also stressed ongoing initiatives to involve local companies and SMEs in government projects to enhance their operational efficiency.
