Environment Authority Says 1mn Invasive Birds Eliminated

The Environment Authority reported the successful elimination of over one million invasive birds, such as mynas and Indian crows, in various governorates including North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Dhofar, and Muscat by the end of May.

In North Al Batinah, 661,592 invasive birds were eradicated, while in South Al Batinah the number reached 203,077. Additionally, 126,700 birds were eliminated in Dhofar, and 50,012 in Muscat. The active participation of community members, teams, and subcommittees played a crucial role in spreading awareness and engaging Omani citizens in reducing the population of these birds.

Following the success in Dhofar and North Al Batinah, the national campaign to combat invasive birds has expanded to other governorates, including South Al Batinah and Muscat. The campaign aims to raise awareness and have a positive impact on the ecosystem by maintaining a balance in the regions where operations are carried out.
