A delegation of 20 students from Sultan Qaboos University took part in the event, underscoring the engagement of the younger generation in the understanding and application of Gandhian principles of peace and tolerance.

The ceremony commenced with a floral tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, which was enhanced with a newly installed canopy, generously sponsored by Mr. Kiran Asher, a recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award and a long-time resident of Oman.

The event was honored by His Highness Sayyida Hujaija Al Said as the Chief Guest. His Excellency Sheikh Humaid Almaani, the Head of the Diplomatic Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, and Sister B.K. Asha from the Raja Yoga Centre were also present as Guests of Honor.

In his welcoming address, Ambassador Amit Narang of India to the Sultanate of Oman highlighted the significance of non-violence as a fundamental value in Indian culture and the remarkable ability of Mahatma Gandhi to transform this ideal into a potent political instrument against oppression and injustice globally.

Sayyida Hujaija Al Said, in her remarks, reflected on the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi to global peace and non-violence, emphasizing that his values continue to inspire hope for resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy, principles that Oman deeply cherishes. She also paid tribute to the Gandhi Peace Prize, awarded posthumously to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for his enduring contributions to peace and non-violence.

Students from various Indian educational institutions in Oman performed a moving rendition of the renowned Gandhian hymn, "Vaishnav Jan To," embodying the core values of humility, empathy, and compassion that remain pertinent today. Additionally, a captivating dance-drama performance depicting the life of Mahatma Gandhi was staged by the students.
